On December 6th, the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) adopted a new General Order for Sanitary Sewer Systems, which will replace the 2006 Order and the 2013 Monitoring and Reporting program when the new Order becomes effective in early June 2023. The final version of the Order will be available on the State Water Board’s Sanitary Sewer System Program Webpage in late December 2022.
On January 11, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Clean Water Summit Partners (CVCWA, BACWA, CASA, Clean Water So. Cal (formally SCAP), and CWEA) will host a free Zoom webinar on the new SSS WDR. With a variety of new and modified requirements building upon the 2006 SSS WDR Order, this event is designed for collection system LROs, data submitters, managers and operators to help highlight different priority actions that should pursued in the coming months and years in order to comply with the new SSS WDR Order by its June 4, 2023, effective date, including:
- The streamlined process for existing enrollees to transfer current Order enrollment to the new Order, prior to the new Order becoming effective;
- The priority actions to comply with modified spill reporting and updated Spill Emergency Response Plan requirements by June 2023;
- Clarifications for updating Sewer System Management Plans in 2025 and 2026, based on the current Plan update schedules in the existing Order.
