Committee Meeting Schedule

General Committee Focus

This committee is focusing on issues associated with discharge of treated wastewater.  It may be subdivided into smaller groups to address topics such as NPDES permits for dischargers to major water bodies, NPDES permits for dischargers to effluent dominated water bodies (EDWs) and discharges to land including pond and irrigation systems.

Topics and Issues

The committee is working to develop and distribute information about current NPDES and Waste Discharge Requirement Permits for POTW's and will develop technical, economic, financial and scientific information about permit issues and participate in forums with State, EPA and other organizations.  This may involve the following activities:

• Develop and agree on a preliminary list of issues for the committee to work on;
   
• Build partnerships with the Regional Board to define and solve water quality problems;
   
• Work with Regional Board to develop criteria for approving Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEPs);
   
• Encourage a focus on regulatory actions which lead to measurable water quality improvement;
   
• Encourage a shift towards regulations which provide reasonable protection of beneficial uses, as required under the California Clean Water Act;
   
• Encourage the SWRCB to modify the SIP;
   
• Participate in current Basin Plan Amendment (BPA), Use Attainability Analysis (UAA), and TMDL ongoing efforts;
   
• Recommend changes that streamline the BPA and UAA processes;
   
• Develop Membership NPDES Requirements Database.

Meeting Schedule

Meetings take place on the 3rd Wednesday of every other month from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm except where noted. Subcommittees may arrange to meet from noon to 1:15.
